Cardijn quote

Every young worker is worth more than all the gold in the world.

Cardijn on adult apostolate

"The fact that apostolic movements up to the present day are principally being put into action by young people does not lessen the importance of, and the urgent need for an apostolate amongs adults; unless such an apostolate exists, all the efforts of the young people will lead to a dead end" - Laymen into action

With great regret, CCI notes that former YCW Malaysia National President, Edmund Cross, suffered a stroke and passed away yesterday 24 March 2009.

Edmund was the founder of Sunshine Cottage - a home for runaways,poor/neglected/homeless and abused children at Kulim, Kedah.

"We, the coordination team of CCI express our deep condolences to his family and all his dear and near ones," CCI International Convenor, M.J. Ruben said.

"Edmund continued to serve the masses till his death. His life and actions are yet another proof that leaders formed through Cardijn movements never rest until their call for a final and eternal rest."

As well as his role in the Malaysian YCW, Edmund also participated in various international conferences of the IYCW including the Intercontinental Meeting in Bogota, Colombia in 1981 and the IYCW International Council in Madrid, Spain in 1983.

Information on funeral arrangements will be published as it comes to hand.
